Bergen, real name Belgin Sarılmışer, is an artist who has left an important mark on Turkey's arabesque music. Known as the "Woman of Pain", Bergen has deeply affected millions with both her voice and her life story. She reached a wide fan base with the songs she released in the 1980s, and the difficult life conditions she lived in and her tragic end have made her name unforgettable in the music world. Bergen, who powerfully deals with themes of love, pain and sadness in her songs, has managed to reach emotional depths with her music and has become one of the symbolic names of arabesque music.
