In the play that won the “Best Female Performance of the Year” award at the 9th International Labor and Success Awards, “Celile” is presented by Ayşegül Yalçıner as a strong woman who reaches the audience not only as Nazım Hikmet’s mother or Yahya Kemal’s lover, but also from the 1900s.
During Nazım's long imprisonment, during the years of struggle he and all the world's intellectuals gave, there was also the cry of a mother whose heart beat for her child's freedom. A strong and brave woman who was talked about with her forbidden love in the last years of the Ottoman Empire and her struggle for her son's life and freedom in the first years of the Republic... The first female nude painter of the Ottoman Empire, who gave her paintings to people and said, "Please hang this in the living room, not in the bedroom", is conveyed to the viewer with all her reality. A painter who was extremely brave and daring for her time... A strong woman, a mother, a lover who showed the courage to protest on the Galata Bridge without thinking, without caring about the conditions and pressures of the time, while her son was on a hunger strike... Celile!
