Have you ever killed someone and been sentenced to death? Have you ever spent your last days in a moldy cell, knowing the day and hour you would die? Victor Hugo wrote about a 27-year-old prisoner who lived through all of these on his last day at the beginning of the 19th century and wrote on papers in the hope that the death penalty would be abolished...
